Located in between breathtaking viewpoints of the Windmill and Promthep Cape, Ya Nui Beach is nestled in a small bay of white powder sand littered with small shells that have been washed up along the shore tide. Although in the shadow of two beautiful other beaches in southern Phuket, Ya Nui Beach has an abundance of coral life only a few meters from the shore. Many people tend to hire kayaks and paddle out to the island of Koh Keyoa Noi for a better snorkeling experience. Ya Nui Beach is approximately 10 minutes away from SUNSURI PHUKET.

If you have a passion for nature and adventure, you will love the newly discovered Laem Krating viewpoint at sunset. This is one of the lesser known sunset viewpoints in southwest Phuket, unlike nearby Laem Promthep which is very popular and always busy at dusk. At Laem Krating the journey is all part of the experience. To get there head towards Ao Sane Beach and continue to Krating Resort Phuket, from here continue walking along the seafront cliffs for another 100 metres and you will find a small trail that leads to the horn-shaped rock. The walk takes approximately 30 minutes. Take some amazing photos of the wide panoramic sea views, beautiful sunset and starry night skies.
The mountain road between Nai Harn and Kata is one of the most spectacular coastal roads on Phuket. The views of the sea, lush forests and mountains are breathtaking, but there is one particular viewpoint along the journey that is well worth stopping for. Karon Viewpoint is a small viewing post on the side of the road with a parking area and steps up to a platform. Here you are rewarded with an amazing view of three west coast beaches, Kata Noi, Kata and Karon beaches. A great photo opportunity!
The beautiful Coral Island is just 3 kilometres southeast of Phuket making it easy to hop on a boat and enjoy a day snorkelling and relaxing on the island. Koh Hae as it is known locally, has two main beaches, Long Beach and Banana Beach, both have restaurants and resorts with facilities such as swimming pools and toilets. Coral Island, as the name suggests is a wonderful place to snorkel, especially off Banana Beach, the water is lovely and calm and you can walk from the sand to snorkel above the nearby reef to see the colourful marine life. The island does get busy during the day with tour groups, but there are plenty of beach chairs and restaurants for everyone.
Many years ago people from all over Phuket would drive down to Rawai Beach to relax the afternoon away under the shade of casuarina trees that run parallel to the beach. Nowadays Rawai has become a major point of departures via long tail boats to surrounding islands for snorkeling or diving adventures. Situated on the southern end of the beach near the jetty is a unique Seafood Market called the Sea Gypsy Village. Many locals and visitors shop for freshly caught seafood here and dine nearby restaurants that can cook any dish from the recently purchased seafood upon request. Rawai Beach is approximately 15 minutes away from SUNSURI PHUKET by motorbike or car.
Chalong Bay serves as an important anchorage point for yacht mooring, long tails and cruises. The area becomes a busy departure point, when group tours are bundled together on boats bound for Phuket offshore islands such as Coral Island or Phi Island. The most noticeable feature of Chalong Bay is the 720m long and 7m wide jetty built in 2001. Chalong Bay and Pier is approximately 35minutes drive from SUNSURI PHUKET.
Racha Islands is located 12 nautical miles off the coast of southern Phuket in the Andaman Sea and composed of Racha Noi and Racha Yai. The journey time takes approximately 45 minutes. Speedboats and tours depart from Chalong Bay or Rawai Beach to visit the warm crystal clear waters of Racha Islands. The Islands are home to many challenging dive sites where visitors may take the opportunity to snorkel or learn diving lessons.
One of Phuket Thailand most popular sacred religious sites, Wat Chalong or Chalong temple was built in the 19th century to pay reverence to the monks that led the citizens of Chalong Sub district against the Chinese Rebellion in 1876. Wat Chaiyathararem, the official name of the temple is home to a splinter of Lord Buddha’s relic which resides inside the 60 meter tall Grand Pagoda “Chedi”. The temple is one of the largest and most popular of temples out of the 29 other temples spread throughout Phuket. Inside painting depicting Buddha the halls of the pagoda along with various life-sized Buddhist statues. Wat Chalong is approximately 35 minutes from SUNSURI PHUKET by car.
Big Buddha is situated on top of Nakkerd Hill between Chalong and Kata. The structure was funded entirely by public donations. Built from reinforcing Burmese white jade marble, the vista on top offers a beautiful 360-degree panoramic view of Phuket. The real Buddhist name for the 45 meters tall Big Buddha is known as “Pra Puttamingmongkol Akenakkiri”. Decorated underneath the marble structure are many short messages written in memory of passed loved ones on metal leaves symbolizing respect and devotion. The Big Buddha is approximately 40 minutes from SUNSURI PHUKET.
